Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-001 White to the top and sides of the piece. Allow to fully dry before beginning any further steps.
Apply 2 coats of SC-11 Blue Yonder to the outside grooves of the bottle cap using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner.
With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, transfer the image onto the bottle cap.
Using a AB-834 ¾â Base Coat Brush, load a very small amount of SC-76 Cara-bein Blue and dapple around the background in cloud like forms. While it is still damp repeat the process with SC-29 Bluegrass. It is best to do small sections at a time. Leave some of the FN-001 White in places to give more depth.
Using CB-110 #10/0 Liner, outline the palm trunk using SC-15 Tuxedo. Once that is dry Use SC- 25 Crackerjack Brown in each section with the same brush. Go back through once dry with SC- 48 Camel Back on the outer edges of the palm. SC-6 Sunkissed is used for the highlights of the palm tree. Only choosing sections to highlight. Once those have dried you may choose to go back over with the CB-110 #10/0 Liner and SC-15 Tuxedo to create lines around the tree trunk.
Following the pattern outline the palm leaves with SC-14 Java Bean and the CB-106 #6 Script Liner brush toward the outside line of the leaf.
With the CB-106 #6 Script Liner alternate colors of SC-27 Sour Apple, SC-6 Sunkissed, SC-29 Bluegrass, SC-8 Just Froggy, and SC-77 Glo Worm. Do this while each layer is still damp to blend the colors together.
Focus next only on the head of the bird. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply SC-8 Just Froggy to the bottom of the head. While it is still damp use SC-27 Sour Apple for the rest of the head. Use SC-77 Glo Worm and SC-6 Sunkissed on the highlights and eye ring of the parrot.
Apply SC-77 Glo Worm on the wing using the same brush. You may highlight the SC-77 Glo Worm with SC-6 Sunkissed. Use your lightest to darkest colors as you move past the bright part of the top of the wing. You will use SC-27 Sour Apple, SC-77 Gloworm, SC-8 Just Froggy, and SC-29 Bluegrass for the remainder of the wing and continue onto the tail.
For the breast of the parrot use SC-27 Sour Apple. Then pencil in the shape of the feathers.
Make a wash using SC-8 Just Froggy and use on the top of each feather for shading. Make sure you leave the line at the bottom as SC-27 Sour Apple.
Once the parrot is completely dry use the SG-401 Black Designer Liner to outline the parrot. At this time is when you add the lines in the tail and the detail on the wing.
Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply SC-15 Tuxedo to the Lettering. Allow to dry.
